Theresa May Home Secretary has driven a divide between Rank & File Police Officers and Sir Hugh Ordes ACPO

There was a unanimous vote of no confidence in ACPO, the Association of Chief Police Officers this afternoon at the Police Federation of England & Wales Conference in Bournemouth.

This now requests that PFEW has to write to ACPO informing them of the action by rank and file Officers.

Just weeks after the Health Secretary received a vote of no confidence in his NHS reforms following Government cuts to Public Service Sir Hugh Orde and his colleagues received theirs.

The anger comes after months of inaction in their support of rank and file Officers in respect of the huge unfair 20% Cuts in their Service and the Hutton, Winsor and Neyroud reports which seek to rip apart the structured pay and conditions of service of many Police Officers.

Some stood and quoted that ACPO are only in it for themselves and pointed out that although the Service faced its greatest challenges since the 1800’s ACPO declined to attend with one Chief Officer deciding it was a good time to travel across to Canada than attend the Conference.

ACPO’s response was as lame as their inaction with what many will see as a clear continuation of a theme.

An ACPO spokesman said:

“The Association of Chief Police Officers comprises the 329 senior officers across all 44 police forces of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus non territorial forces. Every chief police officer joined the service at constable rank and places huge value on the complex, difficult, incredible job the police workforce does on behalf of our communities.

“Meeting the financial challenges facing the police service is tough. As senior officers we will continue to speak out publicly and privately about the decisions that need to be taken in each force. The daily evidence of the effort and commitment our police officers and staff put into keeping communities safe shows that the whole police service shares a determination to remain focussed on delivering the best possible policing to the public.”
